Lock: Cabin – Combination is 1953. After you have dialed the combo, push the lock together to make it un-lock. It doesn’t just fall open. When you lock up it has to be on the combination, pushed together, then spin the numbers.
Heat: Heat is from propane furnace, electric radiators and the fireplace. Wood is next to the garage. Thermostat for the furnace is on the hallway wall across from the first bathroom as you walk back toward the master bedroom. Thermostats for master bedroom and bunkhouse base-board heaters are in the Master bedroom and the bunkhouse respectively.
Fuses: Fuses blow occasionally. Circuit breaker box is in the bunkhouse behind a wood panel in the room with the queen bed. There is an additional fusebox in the basement laundry room.

Emergency – 911 – You are on Capser Road. - Fire Number 467
Garbage: All garbage on the island is hauled off the island. Therefore it’s expensive. We know you are here to have a good time and don’t want to burden you with eco-anxiety. Just separate garbage into two categories: recyclables and trash. There are four containers out by the garage. Two for recyclables and two for trash. Use the bungie cords to avoid bear problems. Trash is picked up a few times per week. Store excess in garage if necessary...close the door!
Recyclable bin: all glass, tin, aluminum, steel, and plastic bottles, cans and containers, newspaper, cardboard– Please rinse out food.
True garbage bin: egg shells, plastic wrap, wet paper towels, organics, etc.
If you follow these simple instructions, you will make it to heaven for sure.
Trash bags should be in the kitchen drawer. Otherwise pick some up at the convenience store.
Food: Although there is a “convenience store” on the island, the grocery options are not vast. I strongly suggest packing in all food. The IGA in Washburn is good and normally open til about 8pm. The grocery store in Bayfield is OK. If you want good produce bring it from home.
Bears: There are a bears on the island. A few years ago we had some garbage in our car overnight and the bears ripped off the back window of the Caravan to get at it. They don’t eat people – yet – just looking for easy pickings. I don’t mention this to frighten but as a caution about leaving food or garbage outside at night. That’s when they do their snacking. Please make sure you keep the bungee cords on the garbage cans – We have not seen or heard of bear activity near us since 2017.
Tennis: The courts in town are great and rarely used.
Golf: Robert Trent Jones course. Fun with some shared greens and tee boxes.
Beach Fire: If you choose to make a fire on the beach, use existing fire pit or create just one for yourself. Please realize the whole island could very easily go up in smoke. Please don’t build a fire when the wind is blowing. Especially blowing inland. When you are done please extinguish with water not just sand as the sand can blow off and the fire continues to burn. You really don’t want people to refer to the “the Great “your name here” Fire of 2022”
Boathouse: Use of the boathouse and the rowboat are not part of the deal. If you use the boat(s) it is against our wishes and at your own risk.
Septic: This house has a septic tank. We don’t anticipate any problems but if there are please call (715) 747-6085 for pump out.
